Summer Quests Camps
Acton Academy Hampton Roads Quest Camps allow campers to experience one of the coolest parts about Acton learning: Quests! Our Quests are academic by nature and designed to guide each young hero to take part in a collaborative project to help them discover their most precious gifts, talents and interests. Join us for one week or all six! Payment is due at time of registration.
July 11th-15th: Science Quest
Calling all junior biologists! This biology focused camp is a great way for your learners to explore the furry, scary, and leggy animals of the world. Learners will get the opportunity to explore collections of preserved insects and arachnids and examine mammal bones and reptile skins. Campers will learn how to prepare microscope slides of various materials and aid in the dissection of non-mammalian specimens.
July 18th-22nd: Chess/Board Games Quest
Calling all board game enthusiasts! This camp will offer opportunities to get your learner's brain buzzing by boosting their language skills, sharpening their mental focus, and by learning the value of teamwork. Some of the games that might be played are Chess, Stratego, Monopoly, D&D, Settlers of Catan, Where in the World, and more! Learners will also have the opportunity to create their own board game.
July 25th-29th: Nature Quest
Nature camp will be paired with structured and unstructured activities so each day contains play, learning, and autonomy of choice. This camp will nurture your learner's sense of wonder and curiosity with activities that help them connect to nature. Trek through the trees, explore for birds, insects, plants, and animals around Virginia Beach and Chesapeake's diversely beautiful landscapes.
August 1st-5th: Coding Quest
Turn your child's love for technology into an exciting learning adventure! Campers will learn the basics of coding to create their very own video games!
August 8th-12th: Art Quest
This project-based art camp will be guided by Acton Academy Hampton Roads accomplished learner driven artists. These artists will collaborate with your learner about different art processes that will encourage them to understand other subjects more clearly-from math and science, to language arts and geography. Art activities help nurture inventiveness as it engages learners in the development of self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, and self-motivation. Participating in art projects will help learners gain the tools necessary for understanding human experience, adapting to and respecting others' ways of working and thinking, developing creative problem-solving skills, and communicating thoughts and ideas in a variety of ways.
August 15th-19th: Lego Quest
Learners will explore the foundations of Physics using the Lego BricQ Motion Legos. Join us for one week or all six! Payment is due at time of registration.
